Artist Statement:

As an artist and mother who is Jewish and also Latina, my background is as diverse as my community and cultural experience. I work from an intuitive and spiritual place. My bold and powerful abstract paintings connect and reflect my experience within both cultures, always influenced by their interconnectedness and my history melding the two.

My father was Mexican and Catholic, and my mother was American, Jewish, and an artist. I was also exposed to Buddhist culture via my mother's best friend—Japanese, an artist, and a Buddhist. She helped raise me when my parents divorced. This additional thread, with its respect for the natural world, ties these cultures together on a foundation of family, community, and the value of making the world a better place. This tapestry in which I grew up serves as the connection that inspires me today as a multicultural artist.

I work in gestural layers of color, which represent the layers of my life and the generations that came before me.
